1927 ford roadster pickup. This thing is really fun, I am just ready for my next build, so something has to go cause I am out of room. This is a reliable driver to go bouncing around town in. It needs a few details sorted out but I have been driving it as is. I will try to be as detailed as possible, please ask questions, and if you are anywhere near Atlanta please come by and see for yourself.

Body: Real Henry Ford Steel 1926-27 roadster body and bed. Both were sand blasted and offending metal was replaced. The body is in no way perfect. It still has some pitting and some spots that show the age and some dents, especially in the bed, but all rust was removed then it was primed an painted. I chose not to erase all of that character, but it was too far gone to be left as it was. Please see the build pics and listing pictures. It is not a show car but it is defiantly not a rat rod. There are some build images in at ldcustoms dot com. The windshield stanchions are original and were at some time nickel plated, they do need to be redone now. The bed is 5/8 cedar planks. Gas tank is early 30's Chevrolet.

Engine: 1955 Ford 292 y block rebuilt and bored .30 over. Runs like a top, fires right up and does everything like it is supposed to. It is a real Thunderbird motor, I watched it come out of the Thunderbird myself (...the guy was putting a 289 in his restored 55 Thunderbird so i jumped at the chance to buy the motor.. not what i would have done were it mine....but the tbird isnt mine...so please don't email about that part.) If that is not enough, real yblock lovers will notice the double crank pulley that is Thunderbird only. The vintage Edelbrock 553 intake has 3 Holley 94's with a progressive linkage. The outside carbs have the idle circuits blocked off, so it fires right up and idles great in the cold or sitting in the Atlanta summer traffic. The radiator is a huge Walker brand. It is running points ignition, and a 12v generator. The exhaust is custom made from and early ford inner drive shaft. The lakes caps are functional, it runs through smithy exhaust under the car when they are capped.

Transmission: Thunderbird three speed with a borg warner r-10 overdrive unit. The unit functions, but it gets stuck in overdrive, I am not sure if it is the solenoid or not. I am not sure but for some reason the solenoid retracts but it does not pull the pawl out. I am not sure if the return spring on the solenoid is too weak or if the pawl is getting stuck for another reason. The solenoid is and early 60s 12volt model. I have been driving it with the overdrive locked out and figured I would get into it over the winter. The clutch is a wilwood hydraulic set up. The shifter is a Hurst syncro-lock, it is a really cool shifter that you can turn into a straight line shifter if you wanted too, you just remove a pin, neat design.
![Ford T hot rod (1908 - 1927) - T rod - Page 7 553](https://i.servimg.com/u/f21/19/23/67/30/553.jpg)
Chassis: Custom chassis with a z'ed rear end. The front axle and wishbones are model a. The front brakes and spindles are 1940 ford. The rear end is a 1960 Thunderbird 9 inch that has new axle bearings brakes and drums. It has a dual drum drum master cylinder. I looked a the gears and they were in great shape when I did the axle bearings so I left it alone. I think there is a little more lash than it wants, but I figured that might be a winter project. The rear end is mounted with 1936 ford radius rods and a 40 ford transverse spring.
![Ford T hot rod (1908 - 1927) - T rod - Page 7 649](https://i.servimg.com/u/f21/19/23/67/30/649.jpg)
The gauges are stewart warner except the speedometer. That is a 48 Chevrolet, the gauge itself works, but I think the little plastic gear in the transmission speedo housing is broken, I have not looked into it further. The sending unit in the gas gauge needs to be adjusted, but I tend to just look into the tank. The tach is a real sun tach, but needs to be sent in for service. It works but the needle drags a little bit, it was a swap meet find.

1927 Model T coupe hot rod. I finished building it approx. 5 years ago and have been driving it to car shows and cruise nights since then. It is a steel body that has been chopped 6" and has an old school curved roof top welded on. It has fixed glass windshield and 1/4" plexi-glass rear windows. No door glass but does have working regulators. It has a 31' model A grille shell. The trunk lid is fabricated from a steel replacement panel with 41' chevy hinges. It has a 2" x 3" frame with coils and hairpins to an 8' ford rearend. The front is a single leaf spring to a speedway straight axle. It has disc brakes in front and drum rear. It has a mustang master cylinder mounted under dash with proportioning valve mounted on frame. The motor is a strong running 1988 crate motor with a vintage wiend cross ram intake, 2 Holley 450's, vintage AFX valve covers, lakester headers with baffles and a walker radiator. I have Rocket racing wheels with B.F. Goodrich wide white wall tires from Coker. It has King Bee headlights and Stewart Warner gauges. All lights and gauges work properly. It has a turbo 350 automatic trans with a Lokar shifter. I'm not sure what the seats are out of. (swap meet find)

1927 T Modified Roadster Hot Rod
![Ford T hot rod (1908 - 1927) - T rod - Page 7 133](https://i.servimg.com/u/f86/19/23/67/30/133.jpg)
The modified roadster rips down the street and cruises down the highway with it's overdrive transmission. The SBC has a mild cam and two, two barrel carbs adapted to a vintage Weiand intake. The set up was professionally built by Dicks Hot Rod Carbs. The Motor and trans are detailed and color matched with the car. One of my favorite features of the roadster is all the chrome accent pieces. The rear end is a Winters Mini-Banjo style that has a polished third member. The suspension is all set up on quarter elliptical shocks, dry lakes style. Chrome friction shocks are on all four corners right next to the Wilwood disc breaks. The wheels are Rocket Racing Fire and Solids and the modified is the poster child for these wheels in the Rocket Racing Wheel catelog. Sikkens Paint company liked the project so much that they sponsored the paint and also use the HRC roadster for advertising purposes. This Hot Rod is unique and even at the LA Roadster Show and the GNRS is shines among the rest because it is different yet a class act. Needless to say, every inch of the car is detailed, it is gorgeous.
![Ford T hot rod (1908 - 1927) - T rod - Page 7 231](https://i.servimg.com/u/f86/19/23/67/30/231.jpg)
The car debuted at the Grand National Roadster Show in 2014 and took 2nd place in a class of 20 high-end roadsters. It wasn't a $100K build but it was cleaner than almost all of them and the fabrication exceeded its competitors by far. HRC went with the Polyform body because they are proven the best and 3 in. longer and wider. I'm 6'1 and fit perfect. We wanted the "Modified Roadster" look and the '27 T in our eyes was the only way to go. We looked and looked at original Henry bodies but they were too small and narrow for my body frame. With the way we set up the interior, and the Poly Form amenities, the driver is able to sit much lower and stretch out way more than if we were to have gone with an original body.
