1955 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 Gasser
55 chevy Gasser, built to a high level of detail, everything is era correct and this is truly a great car, very fast ,very reliable, and built right with all top notch parts.
First, we started with a 80,000 original mile Rust free car that ran and drove with the original 265 and powerglide, after going through the car there is no doubt the mileage is actual.
Project started with custom 2x4 front rails tig welded and reinforced then a new straight axle kit with chevy spindles and disc brakes custom built pitman arm with stock steering box, car rides and drives really good
Engine is a beast 496 cu.in. big block chevy billet crank,h beam rods, forged pistons 12 to 1 comp. solid roller cam canfield rect port aluminum heads with large valves and roller rockers and locks and all good bolts and springs, gear drive, moon finned front cover and very rare finned aluminum boat oil pan, offenhauser square port crossram , 2 demon 750’s hunt mag style distributor with msd 6a box, new aluminum flywheel and new centerforce clutch, the thing revs like a smallblock and runs and cruises really great. White fenderwell headers with caps and custom head pipes to 3 in. exhaust with flowmasters and a h pipe.
A rare vintage Ansen NHRA approved bellhousing, Muncie 4 speed with hurst shifter smooth and quiet, 69 camaro 12 bolt with posi and 4.10 gears custom built ladder bars chromed . finned aluminum cover
American cast grey wheels 15x7 with hurst cheater slicks and 15x4 ½ in front
The paint on the car has patina, a few chips a few worn spots and some cracks but very cool and just right look for the era of the car not a “fake“ paint job real aged finish that looks great.
Firewall was prepped and paint gloss black with some cool striping, the dash was painted gloss black and creamy white, and rare radio delete plate.
The interior is old but very nice del-ray style and the carpet is new the floor inside was painted with POR-15 paint and sound deadner from front to rear , all window moldings are chrome done by Custom Chrome plating in Ohio, Show Quality, seats and door panels and headliner are very nice with some slight worn spots

1955 Chevy Chevrolet Gasser "The Shopping Cart"
1955 Chevy Gasser. This is my Dad's baby and I am listing it for him. He has endless hours on the phone tracking down this cars history. He knows the history of the car and the people associated with it, so if you have any questions it might be best to call him direct at 815-758-2783 and ask for Dave
We bought this car out of Phoenix Az. The car was at a racing shop in Cave Creek Az for many years and was brought to IL 2 years ago. We decided then not to restore it as the frame and body were very sound condition. The floor was perfect as is the one piece frame. The car was raced by Rick Tanner who took it to the Nationals in 1970. At the time he was running a Mickey Thompson engine w/ injection. We know this as the radiator in the car was setup with outlets for the intake that was used for injected engine. Along with the car came the original trans and intake.
What we have done is add brakes to the front replace the rear brakes and lines, rebuild the rear end . The racer that rebuilt it told us all the best stuff from the period is in the rear. Summers axles etc.. The spindles were rebuilt with new bearings from Speedway.
The car has spiral shocks in the rear and the straight axle was professionally installed. We believe the seats are from a Volkswagon. All the “glass” is plastic, with blue in in the rear quarter windows. Car has new Tires (rears not yet mounted still in bag). The headliner and inside panels have been replaced matching the ones that were removed . The interesting thing is that a lot of attention was payed to weight and weight distribution . Under the car are bars going laterally to add weight and the rear trunk floor has been replaced with a steel plate. There also are attaching pints for 2 large batteries. The name “shopping cart “refers to the grocery store sponsor Ellis Tanner in Gallup New Mexico. Ellis told me some history regarding the driver Rick, and his escapades, he had 3 wives and they all are alive today. The transmission come from David’s 4 speeds in Milwaukee Wi. and is a M20 trans. Centerforce clutch and the original verti gate shifter.
The car has been rewired completely and the gauges are original or period correct The engine is fired by a hidden MSD under the dash. The original fuel filter was cleaned and retained. The fuel hoses are the new rubber lookalike by Aeroquip, and the fittings have been antiqued by NVR racing. The engine was a new 355 racing engine built by NVR for short track racing in Nascar. We gave the engine back to NVR and they removed the dry sump and 390 carb and replace the pan and timing cover anitiqued the whole engine, rebuilt the correct carbs with out making them looking restored added the old style valve covers and dynoe’d the engine. It produced 550 HPat 6,000 we have a link to the dyno run available below.
This car is solid, no repairs were needed or done to the floors or cowl , doors or deck lid. The glass repair of the front was because Rick started drinking early and hit a pole in the staging area. The undercarriage dirt is mostly original desert dirt and light surface rust. The framed picture and story board will go to the wininng bidder with the car.
We have driven the car to check out operation of the mechanics. We have not raced it. We would recommend the buyer to be extremely careful and proceed as if this was a new untested vehicle. All the parts we used are the best available today but the car is 43 years old and buyers should treat as such.

Badman '55 Gasser replica
HOT ROD’s coverage of SEMA 2013 shone the spotlight on a 1968 Cougar that was built as a replica of a Hot Wheels model. Here’s another kid-fantasy built as a replica of Monogram’s “Badman” 1955 Chevy gasser.
Designed in 1969 by Tom Daniel, the Badman 1/24 plastic model was equipped with a big-block 396, chopped top, radiused wheel wells, GMC 6-71 blower, Gilmer belt drive, red tinted windows, and a fully detailed chassis with straight tube front axle. Countless American kids built the Badman throughout the years (it’s been reissued several times), but it was Chris Darland of Chris’ Hot Rodz who was the impetus of this life-size version of the famed model.
While attending SEMA 2010, the Medford, OR resident bought a Johnny Lightning version of the model and gave it to David Kiff, owner of Pacific Tool & Gauge. He recalled the the wild, wheelin’ drag machine from his youth and immediately commissioned Chris to build a replica of it.
But their intention was to build more than just a replica – this 1:1 Badman was to be a nod towards what used to be and what could be, all the while staying true to the original model. Starting with a clean two-door sedan, Chris installed a straight axle kit he developed in conjunction with Pacific Tool & Gauge. This kit for comes with subframe, boxing plates, front axle kit, steering and brake kit, shocks, steering box, and motor mount crossmember for both SBC and BBC applications.
Continuing the spirit of respecting the past yet improving on it, David found a blown dual-quad 392 Hemi that came out of a 1932 Ford roadster; his son Michael handled the chore of making it right again. Luke Aldrich and Wayne Kniffen helped put everything else together, then handled the painting chores with Valspar clear and Pro-Spray Plymouth Prowler Yellow.
All told, the project took two yearsto build, with the paint being applied a scant two weeks of SEMA. What’s most notable, however, can’t be seen with your eyes: the straight axle David and Chris have developed is super-stable and maneuverable. In fact, Michael Kiff (a newbie on the strip) hopped in the seat of a SBC-equipped straight-axle car and promptly ran 11.66. This Badman replica is a testament of everyone’s talents.

Re: 55' Chevy Gassers
Here's a super cool vintage Gasser called the "4 Speed Clover"! It's a 1955 Chevrolet Nomad Bel Air with great personality! It's powered by a 383ci stroker V8 and a Muncie 4 speed manual transmission! Out back is a burly 12 bolt rear end with lowering blocks, and the front is modified stock style '55 Chevy parts. The engine has extremely low miles and it runs fantastic! It's got a Weiand ceramic coated intake manifold, ceramic coated headers into custom 3 inch dual exhaust, 4 wheel power disc brakes that work great, an Edelbrock carburetor, Mallory HEI ignition, chrome valve covers, a custom polished aluminum air cleaner cover, an A/C pump, an electric cooling fan with a custom shroud, and a serpentine belt system that keeps it all in check! Inside, it has a full custom interior with incredibly comfortable upholstery and matching door panels, a Hurst shifter with a green die shift knob, a Sun Super Tach, a Stewart Warner vintage gauge cluster, nice clean custom carpeting, a beautiful stock headliner with very nice polished trim, and it's all super super tidy! Other features include; green tinted glass and headlights, custom green metal flake paint with a white top, super nice chrome and stainless trim, and authentic vintage dragster graphics that were hand painted! It sits on 15 inch wheels with Rocket Racing wheels up front with 5.00x15 BFG Silvertown wide whites, and aluminum U.S. Wheel rear wheels with 8.20x15 Firestone Dragster wide whites! This is definitely one of a kind and a style that's hard to come by! It's solid, turns heads, and drives outstanding!
