1951 HENRY J NOSTALGIC GASSER 60's STYLE
Here is a 1951 Henry J Hot Rod built as a 1960's style gasser. This car is fast and is not for the timid or faint of heart. If you are looking for a car that drives like your BMW this isn't it ! It takes a real hot rodder to appreciate this car. It has all the goodies that would be found on most 60's drag cars, but was actually driven on the road and has a current NY inspection and current transferrable NY registration. This Henry J is powered by a 1963 Chrysler 413 engine with a torqueflite automatic transmission. Engine is topped with a dual feed Holley Carb with #'s 80770-1 and 0071 stamped on the air horn. Headers carry the exhaust through short mufflers and 4" tail pipes. The rear is a 10 bolt posi GM unit with 4:56 Gears. Car runs, drives, shifts and stop great. It also has working parking lights, headlights, and stop lights. As can be seen in the photos car is equipped with a straight axle with disc brakes, vega steering box and chrome shocks. It has a working line-loc, finned transmission cooler and B&M rachet shifter. Tachometer and full engine monitoring gauge pack is installed including working gas gauge. Gas is provided by a 12 gallon stainless steel fuel cell. There is a louvered hood, interior roll bar, driveshaft loop, ladder bars, and air lift shocks in the rear with on board compressor to raise rear. Moon tank is used as a radiator overflow tank. New heavy duty aluminum radiator with shroud and new chrome alternator. Chrome air cleaner and chrome valve covers dress up the engine compartment. Car is riding on 5.60-15 Coker wide whites on Rocket Drag Style Wheels in the front. 31X10.5 Cheater whitewall slicks mounted on 10" aluminum slots in the rear. Car has a remote battery disconnect switch mounted on the trunk to turn the Optima battery power on and off. It also has a removable steering wheel.

Very Cool truck. Hard to fine someone selling an actual driver. This is just fun to drive, we have Clean Title in hand, original Hudson Manufacturer. See all options we know of just above. We are selling for a friend of our so this does not have to run through our dealership, but is here in storage to view, and title is on hand to take with truck. Starts right up every time, no known mechanical issues, we did notice the center carburetor is not hooked up at the moment, but looks like just need fuel line to it and linkage hooked up. Front flip forward hood is fiberglass, rear bed is good stained to match paint job, and rear fender flares are steel. Only damage we notice was a small 3" or so crack in back glass behind driver (no reason to change), minor scratches in paint, may buff out

1950 Studebaker Starlite Coupe Old School Gasser
1950 Studebaker Champion Starlite Coupe Old School Drag Car, or as more recently suggested a Rat Gasser that can be streetable with a couple add ons like mufflers depending on your state, and a bigger capacity fuel source. At present fuel is supplied by a 3 gallon Moon style tank mounted on the nose in Gasser fashion with cut off valve. A fuel cell mounted in the trunk would be an easy installation and very affordable option. The front suspension is from Speedway Racing and is of a straight tube axle configuration with leaf springs, shocks and disc brakes. Spindles are GM. Steering is also Speedway with a Vega steering box non power. Steering wheel is Moon removable.
Power is provided from a rebuilt Chevy 305HO with a Lunati 282 cam and lifters, Holley manifold with Edlebrock 750cfm 4 barrel carb, Accel HEI electronic ignition and Dougs fenderwell headers. Cooling is from a large capacity Griffin Aluminum radiator. Transmission is Chevy Power Glide, that does leak at the speedometer cable port. Easily fixed with a new O ring or gasket. It has a new cable, but no meter inside the car. The rear axle is a rebuilt Chevy 10 bolt most likely from a small truck. Rear brakes are all new, waiting to be plumbed.
The interior is essentially complete, unless you want some kind of headliner. It would actually look good if cleaned then painted since it is shaped nice from the factory in a tub like fashion. Still has the original interior lite attached at the rear of the ceiling.
No bad rust issues, with the exception of the trunk. It now has a partial floor riveted in by previous owner, which is acceptable at best. Not pretty, but does the job. Spare tire slot still needs removal or hole repaired. Floors under carpet are very nice, with the exception of an amateur attempt at fiber glassing in the inner rocker area by previous owner. All in all, the flloors are very solid as is the body, which is no surprise considering the amount of rust proofing applied by Studebaker in 1950. The doors are also very solid at the bottom and underneath, which are usually problem areas for cars this old.
Car has almost all necessary gauges including Tach, temp, oil pressure and volt. No speedo or gas. All lights work, which includes Headlights, tail lights, turn signals, brake and parking lights. Sorry no radio, heater or whitewall tires.
