1958 Pontiac Starchief owned by Javier Mejia. In 2009 Carlos Valteau painted the car for Javier, giving it a Metalflake panel paint job. The clear on the car cracked, and the car was never completed. It sat for a few years before Javier sold it off. The next owner gave the car a primer paint job before he also sold it off.[1] In February of 2014 Charles Simpson of Ladonia, Texas bought the car on eBay. He bought it from Randy Patterson of Patterson Racing in Southern California. By then the car had been covered in grey primer. Charles did not know what was under the primer until he started to block it down for paint. He was quite shocked when he discovered the crazy paint job underneath, and he thought that he had stumbled across an old Larry Watson paint job. 73 years young Charles worked on the car everyday, and by June of 2014 he had carefully sanded away all of the primer. With help from an airbrush guy, Charles wants to complete the build as it was first supposed to be

This Star Chief is a former Good Guys Cruiser Award Winner and an MSRA Custom of the Year Finalist. It has undergone an absolutely beautiful, no expense spared, frame off custom build. An LS1 was chosen as the power plant and the block was also painted Magenta. The Valve colors were sprayed the same Pearl White as the rest of the car. Everything else has been polished or chromed to show quality. An electronic 6 speed automatic was mated to the Corvette engine. A Fat Man independent front suspension with power rack and pinion steering make driving this big car much more pleasurable. The rear suspension has adjustable air shocks with the gauge and control panel nicely installed in the center console. Vintage Air distributes the air conditioning and the heat. Power disc brakes were an absolute must during this restoration as well. The interior was recovered and customized with white ultra leather and magenta embroidered Chiefs in the headrests. The paint on this car is possibly the best laid Pearl I have ever seen. Pictures cannot do this paint justice. White Sunset Red Pearl with the Magenta Candy Apple Red is just about flawless. The bright work is in very nice condition as well. The trunk was finished off nicely with leather covered panels and matching carpet. This car is still in show quality and ready to win more awards.
