1957 PLYMOUTH CUSTOM
CREATED IN 1987 BY A FAMOUS CANADIAN BUILDER BY THE NAME OF “JIM BAILEY” , THIS VEHICLE (FROM CALIFORNIA ORIGINALLY) HAS ONLY TRAVELED 43,000 MILES FROM NEW DUE TO IT'S MANY YEARS OF STORAGE. ALTHOUGH THE ORIGINAL BUILD WAS DONE AT THE END OF THE 80'S, THE CURRENT EVALUATION BY A PROFESSIONAL APPRAISER EXCEEDS $100,000. AND THAT IS LESS THAT WHAT IT WOULD COST TO DUPLICATE THE CAR TODAY. THE CAR WILL BE SOLD FOR A MUCH LESSER FIGURE THAN THE APPRAISAL.
THE MOTOR IS A REBUILT 1971 CHRYSLER 340, COUPLED TO A REBUILT 727 TRANSMISSION, WITH THE ORIGINAL PUSH BUTTON SELECTOR. IT FEATURES A 2” TOP CHOP FLIP FRONT END, BOXED UPPER FENDER/HOOD, AND CUSTOM FIREWALL. THE INTEGRATED FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS ARE FROM A 57 DE SOTO. IT HAS RECESSED SIDE PIPES, AND THE HOOD IS LOUVERED, AND FLARED TO HIDE THE WIPERS.
FINS WERE DE-CHROMED AND RAISED, GAS DOOR FILLED, AND A ROOF SCOOP ADDED FOR A THIRD BRAKE LITE. THE CAR HAS A 78 CARAVEL SUB-FRAME, GRAFTED TO THE ORIGINAL 57 FRAME, WITH TRANSVERSE TORSION BARS, ENGINE MOUNTS AND BORGESON STEERING SHAFT.
FRONT DISC BRAKES, REAR DRUM, WITH A 87 LE BARON DUAL MASTER CYLINDER POWER BRAKE BOOSTER. IT ALSO HAS A MULTI FUNCTIONAL TILT STEERING COLUMN. THERE IS AN A/C BOX BUT THE A/C WAS NEVER FULLY INSTALLED.
ALL ELECTRICS ARE 87 DAYTONA MAIN COWL HARNESS AND COMPLETELY UP TO DATE. FRONT GREY VELOUR BUCKET SEATS ARE POWER AND THE INTERIOR IS IMMACULATE. THIS CAR WAS STORED FOR MANY YEARS WHICH IS WHY THERE IS SO LITTLE MILEAGE. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THERE ARE MANY MORE PICTURES AND A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF PICTURES, LITERATURE AND HISTORY WITH REGARD TO THE CREATION OF THIS VEHICLE. IT WAS ALSO FEATURED IN THE BOOK PRINTED IN 1989 CALLED “TEX SMITHS CUSTOM CARS”. IT IS VERY WELL KNOW AND HIGHLY REGARDED, A GEM IN ANY COLLECTION.

1958 Plymouth Fury
The Car was customized in the late 60's and it has badge plaques in it all the way back to 1969 when it kept winning car shows. She still cleans up nice for a car that was restored so long ago. The Fury has spent its entire time in a garage being cared for. Other than some issues on the rear bumper Paint (NOT RUST) it is very straight and clean. As you can see in the trunk and underneath the car it still looks in almost perfect condition. The Tail Lights are off a Chrysler Imperial, however I do have the original 58' Fury taillights to go with it.
The interior of the Car has Seats from an Impala (I believe) and is super clean. I was going to have the White re dyed just to take it back to how it looked when it was first done and never got around to it.
The Engine is a beautiful 392 hemi and pulls like a muscle car. This Fury has all the power in the world! It is followed by a Hurst Shifter mounted on a 4 speed manual transmission that shifts wonderfully. The Yoke on the Driveshaft broke on me last year so it has a new assembly taking it back to the rear wheels where I just serviced the Differential last year. The Brakes are less to be desired in the car though. She will stop and drive just fine, just the original brakes that could use an upgrade and servicing.
