Re: 1933 - 34 Ford Hot Rod
Hand fabbed Engine-turned dash panel with new gauges and tach. Nostalgic blinkers, 1935 Ford banjo steering wheel and working horn button blows small horn under hood.
Original 1933 or '34 Ford: dash, firewall, hood, Grille, inner fenders, front fenders and braces, headlites and stands, cowl lites, tail lites and stands, bumpers and brackets, rear fenders. New repop correct covered running boards with original 1933 Ford braces underneath.
Original style 1933 Ford coupe seat with fresh cushions and firmly anchored seat belts. 3-bow folding top with front header attached to Duval style windshield with thumbscrews, top folds fully behind seat and below rear deck but is probably a 2-person operation.
Vehicle passed recent NSRA sanctioned safety visual inspection but the car is home built and has many running gear components over 80 years old. Frequent inspection and possible safety upgrades such as new front tires, disc brakes, Vega cross steering, electronic ignition, Red’s headers and dual exhaust, etc. are recommended for today’s traffic and family safety.

GNRS winning '34 Ford Hot Rod
This '34 Ford was built by Mick Jenkins of So-Cal Speed Shop in 2006 and won the inaugural Gray Baskerville award at the Grand National Roadster Show in 2007. The car is styled after the look of late 60s rods, its build features all the best materials utilized by some of the best names in the industry. With 311 miles since completion, this roadster is show ready, road proven, and is sure to be a serious trophy contender at any rod event worldwide.
The car features a Deuce Customs (Australia) body over an original 34 frame, fully boxed, stretched 2 inches, with rear rails bobbed and recontoured to match the body. The fit and finish is excellent, this car rides down the road without a squeak or rattle and the doors close perfectly. Behind the wheel the quality is immediately evident, this is not your average rod. The body is painted in PPG single stage black, it's about a mile deep and was expertly applied, true show quality paint. Industry veteran Eric Vaughn was called upon to punch the louvers and legendary pinstriper Dennis Ricklefs finished the roadster in contrasting red and white lines. If you follow rodding culture you're probably starting to get the picture.
The car has an original '34 grill laid back 1.5" at the top. Rear bumper is a one-off in stainless steel. Rear end uses a Currie 9" Ford unit with a Detroit Locker 3rd member running 3.50 gears. TCI sway bar and Aldan 225lb coil overs. Rear brakes use beefy Ford Police Special drums (11 x 2.25).
Windshield was chopped 4". Gas cap is a Mooneyes flip up with a custom made flange.
Really perfect wheel tire combo using So-Cal cast-aluminum circle track style wheels wrapped in Firestone Deluxe Champions. From the wire tied knockoffs to the pie crust sidewalls, these to me complete the picture.
Custom vee'd Moon tank, nerf bars are one-offs as well. The brakes look like classic Buick drums but actually contain Wilwood discs hidden inside. More info at So-Cal Fake Brakes

Re: 1933 - 34 Ford Hot Rod
The front end features a forged Magnum 4" drop I-beam axle, Vega cross steering, shocks by Pete and Jakes, a So-Cal panhard bar, hairpins and batwings. The entire exhaust was custom built for the car, the headers are ceramic coated inside. As you might imagine, it sounds wicked.
More pics of Dennis Ricklef's work. Trunk panel reveals a 20 gallon Rock Valley gas tank, hand fabricated from stainless steel.
Expert interior job by Ridler Award winner Gabe Lopez, beautifully done in leather and German square weave carpet.
The So-Cal knobs in the center of the dash control the lights, turn signals and Vintage Air heater. The '46 Ford starter button on the left is for the horn. Classic Mooneyes gauges and a So-Cal 3 spoke wheel wrapped in leather by Gabe Lopez.
Glide seat, Limeworks steering column. The wiring was installed by Foothill Fabrications in Corona CA.

Re: 1933 - 34 Ford Hot Rod
This roadster runs and drives as good as it looks. It features a blueprinted 396 motor bored 30 over with 9.5:1 forged pistons, Edelbrock cam & intake with MSD ignition and distributor. Mellings oil pump, original LS7 6qt oil pan, etc. Full specs listed below.
Transmission is a Turbo Hydramatic 400 with a TH350 flexplate and a performance torque converter all built by Toy Shop Transmissions in Pomona. Fantastic crisp shifting.
SMI built Holley 770 Street Avenger. Recessed firewall is signed by Tom Prufer and Pete Chapouris.
The undercarriage is as clean as the top and the attention to detail as exact.
Some rods look good and some drive good, this one does both. The car fires at the flick of the switch and runs like a scalded cat. Has a very streetable idle and a perfect exhaust note. Super comfortable ride with a nice tight suspension, you'll be impressed with how this car drives. For 380HP it's pretty well behaved when you want it to be but will launch like a bottle rocket if you put your foot into it.

Re: 1933 - 34 Ford Hot Rod
Don't let the modern rolling stock and paint fool you, this 1934 Ford V8 pickup is very much a period piece underneath. Awesome flathead power, a great old-fashioned look, and all the charm that comes with a vintage pickup, this neat Ford is a great combination of old school and smart upgrades.
The flowing fenders and upright cab scream 1930s, and with Ford, the trucks didn't quite mirror the cars, so it has a very upright look that's also quite appealing. The painted radiator shell, neat louvered hood with badges, and handsome beltline moldings all suggest that they were interested in making this pickup attractive as well as functional. The monochromatic paint job is a few years old and gives the truck a sunny disposition that's hard not to like. Workmanship is good all around and everything fits about the way it would have in 1934. The bed is filled with oak that's far nicer than anything the factory was doing back then, but otherwise it's pretty much what you got for your $500 or so. Marker lights on the front fenders help with visibility and incorporate turn signals for safety, and there's a period spotlight on the cowl, which is a nice touch. The big side mirrors are a bit rustic, but I'm pretty sure that's the whole point of this truck.
The interior is 1934 Ford, upgraded and sophisticated in a way that they didn't bother with back in the day. The bench seat wears handsome blue cloth instead of leatherette upholstery, there are carpets on the floor instead of a rubber mat, and a modern steering wheel was stacked atop the original steering column for a slightly updated look. Wood trim on the dash and doors warms up the interior and gives the bare-bones pickup a touch of class, and a variety of upgraded gauges keep an eye on the warmed-over flathead up front. An accessory heater is the lone option and it looks kind of cool hanging there under the dash, although there is an AM/FM/cassette stereo hidden out of sight and made possible by a 12-volt electrical system. A lot of guys would swoon for a truck this luxurious back in 1934.
The real appeal of a vehicle like this is the engine, a 239 cubic inch flathead V8. Fitted with a few hop-up parts, it's still the same rugged, reliable, and downright entertaining powerplant that it's been for decades. It's from a 1949 Ford, so it's a bit more modern than the original 85-horsepower unit, and with log-style exhaust manifolds, dual exhaust with glasspack-style mufflers, 8BA heads, and a front-mounted distributor, it offers the combination of parts that has been sorted out for years. It has a bubbly, torquey feel that's extremely entertaining on the road, and the rugged feeling of the original suspension only reinforces that old-time vibe. The chassis is very much 1934, including the 3-speed manual transmission and banjo-style rear end, and if not for the chrome wheels with baby moon hubcaps and 205/75/15 radials, it would be a totally authentic ride.
