1934 Ford
This 1934 Ford Pickup has a V8 Flathead motor. It was put together by Red from the original Reds headers in Fort Brag. It is a chopped Rat rod all custom paint, custom leather seats and pin striping for our T-shirt company that is often seen on Ax men and Toughest jobs. It has a new transmission, stock rear end, metal floor panels, we put a lot of money and hard work in to this car it runs and drives great. We are Bored and want to build a 4 seater T-bucket.

El Plymo: Swedish For Lowrider
We can’t always trust our initial assumptions, can we? My first thought when I saw Emanuel Sandén’s 1946 Plymouth Deluxe was that a Swedish dude built himself a rat rod lowrider – a flat black one at that.
I chalked it up to a foreign caricature of American style, an assumption that’s not too far fetched. But I also knew Emanuel was one of the guys behind the wicked Hemizon we featured a couple of months ago. There had to be more to this build than I was seeing at first glance.
Maybe I’m jaded by so many people jumping on the rat rod bandwagon; take any bodystyle, paint it flat black, install some shock-value accessories and call it a build. So when I learned that El Plymo was chopped in the ’60s and still wore its original paint and bodywork, I realized that I had perhaps been shortsighted.
El Plymo isn’t a caricature or a passing fad at all. It’s a true survivor, and one that Emanuel has breathed new life and style into.
Looking at the rough bodywork, it’s easy to judge. Just know that those welds are original and untouched, laid down with an oxyacetylene rig by a hotrodder in Sweden over 50 years ago. Most of us can’t claim that kind of authenticity, can we?
As I noticed the switchbox on the dash, my next thought was ‘Please don’t have airbags…’

Re: Patine, peinture et rouille - Barn find & Patina
breathed another sigh of relief when I saw the back lifted. Clearly this thing was juiced.
Emanuel took it a step further and installed legit parts – two old school Fenner Stone pumps with solenoids off a Swedish big rig.
He’s also running two electrical systems in the car, the normal 12v one plus a 24v system just for the hydros. The car can recharge the 24v system without needing to plug in each night – clever.
It didn’t take much to push the chopped Plymouth into lowrider land – just some hydros and wires really. The wheels are 13-inch gold plated Daytons, because as Emanuel says, “An old school lowrider must have 13s!”
It’s interesting to me that he went after the lowrider style with this build. With a barn-find like this I would have been tempted to build a period kustom. Even more interesting though is that he built the car some 10 or 11 years ago. Clearly Emanuel is (and has been) building cars in his own style and not by whatever the current trend happens to be.
This hand-painted logo caught my eye and I had to ask about it. Loosely translated it means Swedish Original Destroying Association, Emanuel’s answer to the ‘problem’ of old guys who only restore cars to original.

Re: Patine, peinture et rouille - Barn find & Patina
case you’re still not clear about his feelings on old cars, there’s this decal on the window.
In
As an American who also loves historic custom cars, it’s sometimes jarring to see such blatant Americana displayed in foreign builds. I guess I take for granted the culture and history we have at our disposal, but to see a guy go to such lengths to bring the style to his own country is an excellent reminder.
Emanuel wanted to make sure we knew that he drives his car too. Of course he cruises it locally; wouldn’t we all?
He’s not afraid to hop in and road trip El Plymo either though. In fact he’s taken it as far as Spain, crossing through a number of other countries on his way.
Now keep in mind this is in an old vehicle, one which he built from the ground up, plus it has adjustable suspension. Driving this car through multiple countries requires two things: passion and confidence in your own mechanical abilities.
If you’re going to take long road trips you’ll probably want a tried and true SBC of course.

Re: Patine, peinture et rouille - Barn find & Patina
Emanuel didn’t do much to the engine, but I do see an electric fan with a shroud to direct air through the radiator.
That switchbox we saw earlier was made from a sculpture Emanuel found somewhere.
He’s also added old school flame throwers to the exhaust by welding spark plugs into the pipes and fattening up the fuel mixture. Not so much a lowrider thing, but this car is a fusion of lowrider and kustom anyways.
Since the body was a time capsule when Emanuel found it, he’s left all the original brightwork in its place.
Shaving any badges or moldings would require a full repaint, ruining the character of the car – out of the question.
The chrome trim helps show the lines against the dull paint too.
After spending some time to learn about El Plymo and chat with Emanuel I realized what a legit custom car this really is. Shame on me for thinking it was just another rat rod…
…and bravo to Emanuel Sandén for being a customizing visionary. I mean really, who scores an original, chopped barn-find and then puts a lowrider spin on it, in a country where a lowrider scene barely exists at all? I guess Emanuel does!

1950 Chevy Styleline Sports Coupe
Car:
1950 Chevy Styleline SPORT COUPE (this is the coupe model with the longer trunk. Hard to find!)
Body:
Car is straight and clean. Little rush by the rear bumper and the one small spot under the rear tail light that was sanded and bondoed before being primed. The body was taken of the frame to clean and paint the frame. There has been no major bodywork other than the engine bay where the firewall has been smoothed and some of the inner fender has been cut back to fit the shocks when laying down. The trunk area was notched as well to clear the axle when it lays all the way down. The exterior was primed and the body was put back on the frame with new hardware as well as rubber pads between frame and body. It had V8 motor mounts installed as well as custom front and rear shock mounts.
Drivetrain:
- Late 60's / early 70's Chevy C10 350 V8 engine (installed in 2010)
- Edelbrock 1406 carb (brand new)
- Weiand intake
- Finned aluminum valve covers
- Rebuilt 1990 Cadillac 700r4 transmission (rebuilt in 2009)

- All new brake lines, brake booster, and all fittings
- Rebuilt rear drum brakes
- 69 V8 nova rear axle
- Lokar swan shifter
- Shortened steering column
- Airbagit plug and play air ride suspension
- 3 core aluminum champion radiator
- The wiring that is there is all new. New 8 fuse box was installed under dash
Interior:
- Front bench seat
- New seatbelts (not installed)
- Original 1940's Fulton electric fan (works and super rare)
- Rear window venetian blinds
- FatMAT around 60% on interior to reduce vibration and noise (will include like 30 more feet with sale)
- Newer carpet
- Great condition original gauge cluster reading 30k miles (needs to be wired up)
Exterior:
- Original Fulton sun visor
- Side mount heat wrapped exhaust that runs under each door.
- Spyder bullet hubcap covers
- Spyder bullet headlight covers
- Original rear fender skirts (not installed, RARE)
List of the needs:
- No heat/AC/power steering
- Driver/Passenger window glass not installed (New glass will be included in sale)
- No interior lights, reverse lights, or turn signals (headlights, taillights and break lights work fine)
- Needs windshield wipers
- Needs new trunk lock
- Horn needs to be wired
- Current gas tank was pulled, cleaned and sealed but it catches air pockets when filling so I just hand fill it with a 5 gallon gas can
- Interior is stripped and ready for remodel

1923 Dodge Turtle Back
1923 Dodge Roadster! Are you in the mood to be the envy on your block? Tired of the same old muscle cars and wanna be hot rods at the shows? Well look no further because this is the car for you! From it’s low stance to the Mopar 440’s brute torque this car reeks of style and raw power! Car is a newly built rod with less then a few thousand miles since completion. This roadster is titled as a 1923 Dodge roadster so insurance and registration is a breeze and super affordable. Also was professionally built by Millers Chop Shop out of Reno Nevada. They build some of the coolest rods around and build top quality hot rods. I’m 6ft6 and I fit and can drive this car easy. Also has nice upholstered seats so the ride is comfy. The roadster runs, drives, stops, and steers great down the road, Keep in mind this is a hot rod.

1953 Buick Roadmaster
1953 Buick Roadmaster Hardtop. The Buick body is sitting on a 1979 Oldsmobile Delta 88 frame and running gear. The car has the Olds 350 motor, power brakes, steering column and gas tank. A Painless wiring harness gives the car all its juice. Tail lights, turn signals, parking lights all work. Car also has an under dash mounted heater. Tail lights are out of a 1969 Cadillac and are turned upside down. All glass is original and is in good shape and working condition. The quarter glass has some "fogging" around the edges. Both door windows and quarter glass roll up and down and both wing glass work. To my knowledge all the original chrome is on the car. Interior is what you see. The front seats are buckets out of a newer model vehicle, they do recline. Rear seat is original with a mexican blanket covering it. The are no door panels, kick panels or headliner. Speedometer, Tachometer and in dash clock do not work. Car has fuel, oil pressure, water temperature and battery voltage gauge that do work. The wiring harness is mounted under the dash and also has a 12v socket for phone charger etc. The white walls are "port-a-walls" not real white wall tires. Port-a-walls came from Mooneyes. Tires are 205/70/15 Goodyear Viva with 80-85% tread left. Spyder caps and beauty rings came from So-Cal Customs. Wheels are 5x5" lug pattern. As far as under the hood...nothing special. No chrome or any type of dress up at all. The car sits low......because it is. No type of air-ride. It has been channeled roughly 8" and just sits low.
