Lincoln 1949 - 1951 custom & mild custom
1950 Lincoln Sedan
There's no shortage of chopped 1950 Mercury coupes out there, but if you'd like something a little different, perhaps this 1950 Lincoln Cosmopolitan will light your fires. Modified with all the traditional tweaks, it's a shaved, chopped, smoothed, and flamed custom that will have folks doing a double-take when they realize that this isn't the usual Mercury lead sled, but something altogether more impressive.
The family resemblance is easy to see, even when the body has been as extensively modified as this one has. A chopped roof line gives it that unmistakable look of a great '50s lead sled and the substantial Lincoln bodywork makes it seem like all the Mercurys are not quite done growing. It's beautifully done and the rounded Cosmopolitan bodywork is a natural for the chopping process. Other body mods include a louvered hood, shaved side trim, and a continental kit out back, not to mention the beautifully done flames, which have a pearl effect that seems to glow against the black base color. Those round headlights are factory-issue and combined with the custom grille, they give this big sled a unique look that's still instantly identifiable as Lincoln. Chrome is, as you'd expect, excellent and the overall fit and finish on the car is extremely impressive.
The white pleated interior is another traditional look that suits the big Lincoln's new role perfectly. The seats show very little use and the wide bench up front is perfect for cruising and the back seat is big enough to bring all your friends with you. Custom door panels match the seats, while black carpets and the stock dash keep it from being too bright inside. The banjo-style steering wheel looks right and frames the original instrument panel which features some of the coolest fonts we've ever seen-and they're stock! The original radio is still in the dash, but since AM isn't all that entertaining anymore, there's an Alpine AM/FM/cassette stereo underneath, along with a CB unit for fun. That signature on the dash that you're wondering about is from Commander Cody, you know, that guy who sang "Hot Rod Lincoln," and this car certainly qualifies. Even the trunk is neatly finished with more pleated white vinyl and black carpets, so you know they didn't cut any corners.
This big sled is no slouch, thanks to the supercharged 350 cubic inch Chevy V8 under the hood. The polished B&M blower sits on top of the small block like a '50s dragster, and looks especially period-correct with the scoop-style air cleaner. A new chrome alternator and Optima battery ensure that there's always plenty of power and it stays cool with a beefy radiator up front. The front clip is from a second-generation Camaro and includes power steering and disc brakes, while the transmission is a stout TH350 3-speed automatic. The same Camaro seems to have donated its 10-bolt rear end, and the suspension has been lowered to give it that "in the weeds" look that lead sleds demand. 14-inch chrome wire wheels (not just hubcaps) wear new 215/70/14 BFGoodrich wide whitewall radials for the perfect '50s touch.

1949 Lincoln Baby Lincoln
My 1949 Lincoln Hotrod is an amazing sight to see.
It drips of nostalgia and old HotRod style.
The first 3 pictures below are pictures from probably about 20 years ago when
it was in gorgeous cosmetic shape and actually winning carshows.
And when I say winning car shows, I am very serious.
Directly below is a picture of the car winning a car show probably back in the 1970's.
I'm not sure exactly when, I am just judging the year based on the hairstyles of the models.
This car shares the same profile as the famous and incredibly desired 1949-1951 Mercury (Mercs). The reason
it looks so much like the Mercury is because both the Mercury and the Lincoln share many (most) of the same body panels
but make no mistake about it, this is not a Mercury.
In many respects, it's even nicer than the Mercury with certain features that Lincoln offered as it was a
higher level car. Take for example the Factory Frenched Headlights.
There is a belief that this car is one of the original Stardust Hotel cars but I personally have
not verified it and at this point it should just be considered just an interesting possibility.

Re: Lincoln 1949 - 1951 custom & mild custom
The car is far from stock. It has a power rack and pinion steering system (Mustang 2) with disc brakes.
It has a nice Chevy 350 with an automatic TH350 transmission. It also has power brakes and vintage AC/Heat.
And check out those amazing gauges on the car's firewall.
This was something that was done in earlier hotrods as a convenience for the engine tuner so the tuner could
keep an eye on engine temperature, etc without having to keep running back to the inside of the car.
A neat touch and unusual to say the least by current car standards.

51 Lincoln Cosmopolitan convertible pick up
51 Lincoln Cosmo Convert. was customized in the late 50's by Charlie Hall (former owner of Green Monster #5) in Tucson Arizona and used as his shop truck until late 2011 when it became my shop truck.
It's a 12 volt car with elect. fan, twin temp gauges, and a nice array of SW curved face gauges.
I removed an aux. fuel tank, air overloads, heavy hitch and a Novi AC unit. The days of heavy hauling are over.
The custom built top is finished inside with a black headliner and does not fold.
Plans call for Appleton 112's, fat whitewalls, Rotunda seat belts and fishtail exhaust tips. Maybe a white tonneau cover as well and some repair work.

1950 Lincoln
True to the Hot Rod term, this Lincoln has new performance everything! With a build consisting of over $30k, nearly everything on the car is new. It features a freshly built Ford 302 V8 with a mild cam, Dual Port Offenhauser intake and a Holley 650 under the hood with a C6 automatic transmission. The interior in this car is all brand new back to factory but with modern materials and a few modern touches but tasteful and classic. It also features all working, all original gauges, lights, signals, etc. The chassis of the car, rebuilt stock front end, uppers, lowers with bags and features a 10 bolt, 3.31:1 in the rear with a trailing arm and panhard set up with bags. The bags are in great shape and the entire air ride system has been installed properly, no worrying about busting or pinching a bag. The valves are hidden just inside the drivers side frame rail underneath the drivers seat with the tank and compressor out back under the trunk floor. This car also features quite the stereo system with a Kenwood head unit and two MTX amps and subs upholstered nicely in the trunk. The paint job is brand new, done correctly with Hot Rod Flatz, and the car is super slick. The wheels and tires are also brand new with less than 50 miles on them, Cragar Deluxe 69's and Coker wide white radials. This Lincoln has Patriot side pipes that can be capped off with complete dual exhaust exiting underneath the rear bumper. This is a very dependable car and has made several couple hundred mile trips to Goodguys and needs absolutely nothing. This car is modern twist on a tried and true classic, the song was written about this car! All the classic look and style with all the modern amenities, if you've always wanted that 50 Merc' but couldn't afford it, this is the car for you.

1949 Custom 'Baby" Lincoln
The much sought after "Baby Lincoln" is three inches longer than the common Merc. But from the firewall, back they are the same. Note the factory "frenched" headlights. The "frame off" build included a fresh 460 Lincoln motor, bored 30 thousands over with roller rockers, a nice Comp cam and 2.25 valves. A rebuilt C-6 trans to a nine inch rear complete the drivetrain. A GM front clip was added for the power steering and power disk brakes. The interior has power leather Cadillac seats, a Flaming River steering column and a Lokar shifter.
