1932 Custom Roadster - Peter and Toni Satherley
Imagine a country roughly equal in area to the lower 48 states of the United States, but with only about 10 percent of the amount of paved roadswhere almost everyone lives within 30 miles of the coast and almost nobody lives in the middle. These factual tidbits haven’t prevented Australia from having one of the highest quality of life rankings and an impressive number of hot rodders, but for Australian hot rodders who love long distance driving, it can be a problem.
Peter and Toni Satherley, husband-and-wife hot rodders from Bunbury, Western Australia, came up with a solution to that problem. They decided to do their cross-country cruising in another country, namely the United States. Peter and Toni are STREET RODDER readers, so they know all about the annual Road Tour. Eventually, they said, we were tired of reading about these trips and decided it was time to do one. They own a few hot rods, trucks, and muscle cars back in Bunbury, but instead of shipping a car halfway around the world, they decided to find a car over here.
They had it all figured out. They would fly to Louisville, Kentucky, for the Street Rod Nationals in August, buy a hot rod at the Nats, and join the Road Tour to Bonneville. Plans changed when Toni found a car on the Internet that had been built by Adams Hot Rod Shop in Rydal, Georgia. That specific car wasn’t what the Satherleys were looking for, but they liked the workmanship and soon after contacted builder Chad Adams about building a ’32 roadster for them.

Re: 1932 Ford hot rod
The Satherleys are originally from New Zealand; the Kiwi bird on the front spreader bar was cast by their friend Mal Murray, a fellow “Kiwi.” The crew at Adams Hot Rod Shop, unaware that it’s New Zealand’s national bird, wondered why Peter and Toni wanted to mount a kiwi fruit on the front spreader bar.Adams has used Kaenen fiberglass bodies from Melbourne, Florida, for several Deuce projects, including this one. The windshield was chopped 2 inches and the doors were stretched the same amount. No external hardware or trim was added in order to keep the lines as clean as possible. All that smooth ’glass is contrasted by the louvered steel hood from Rootlieb. A Kaenen grille shell frames the insert from Dale’s Manufacturing. Headlights are ’32 Ford and the taillights are ’50 Pontiac. A bone-colored BopTop from Sid Chavers Company is the perfect finishing touch. Paint was done by Adams. The Hummer Black was shot using PPG base and clear. Papa Studios in Mableton, Georgia, added the pinstriping, including some elaborate designs on the grille shell, decklid, and gas tank, plus a ’stripe along the beltline and accent ’stripes on all 72 louversnot to mention a few well-placed touches elsewhere on the roadster.
Adams says that most of the cars he builds roll on bias-ply tires, but since the Satherleys roadster was built to drive the wheels off it, wrapping those wheels in radials made more sense. Wide whites and a big ’n’ little combo keep the appearance traditional. Wheel Vintiques 15x5 and 15x10 steelies were painted to match the grille insert and dressed up with ’48 Ford caps and rings. Coker provided the 165R15 and P285/70R15 Silvertown BFGs. Brakes are 8-inch stockers in the rear with GM discs in front.
A finned alloy air cleaner and valve covers dress things up under the hood, and an Edelbrock Performer manifold and 600-cfm carburetor keeps the 350 Chevy crate engine happy. Custom pipes run from a pair of block hugger headers to the Flowmaster mufflers. The small-block is tied to a Turbo 700-R4 automatic transmission. The Ford 8-inch limited-slip differential has 3.5:1 gears. The rearend is held in place by a triangulated four-link suspension, with Aldan coilovers. American Stamping Rails, and a Model A crossmember were used to build the frame at Adams, where Dennis Elmore is the chassis expert. Lucky 7 Enterprises in Milton, Ontario, Canada, supplied the traditional front suspension components, including hairpins, drilled I-beam, spindles, and springs.

Re: 1932 Ford hot rod
Lipstick red leather covers the door panels and custom seats. Like everything else on the roadster, the inside was finished by Adams Hot Rod Shop. The four-spoke Sprint Carstyle steering wheel from Lobeck’s rides on a Mullins column. The repro Deuce dash is filled with VDO gauges and accented with a little more of that pinstriping. A Kenwood stereo system provides the cruising soundtrack and A/C will definitely be added before the next long-distance trip.
The time elapsed between the day Peter and Toni called Adams and the day they drove their fresh ’32 out of Adams Hot Rod Shop was five months. Adams had put 250 shakedown miles on the brand-new Deuce. The Satherleys added almost 4,500 on the Road Tour from Louisville to Bonneville, then onto Las Vegas and Southern California, and up to Pleasanton, near San Francisco. Peter and Toni are back in Australia now, but the roadster is still in Northern California, waiting for them to return. The long term plan is to wear out the car crisscrossing the United States, they told us. And then there’s the lakes-style ’32 Tudor we have to talk to Adams about.

Floorless - 1932 Ford Pick Up - Chopit kustom
This Model A Pickup stopped us dead in our tracks with proportions that push things right to the limit. Another inch taken out of the roof or body would have taken the little A into circus freak territory, so we were glad to see the builder knew when to say when.
The small block Chevy is topped with an Edelbrock manifold and six vintage Strombergs for the ultimate in carbureted delivery. Long before we had fuel injection this was the old school solution for evenly distributing fuel to each cylinder. Finned valve covers and chrome open headers round out the retro vibe.
The nerf bumpers, originally derived from sprint car and Indy racing, are a nod to the ’60s show car style. ’59 Caddy tail lights are a bit loud, but fit the show car theme nicely.
Its rare to see a chopped, sectioned and channeled Model A with full fenders, but that’s precisely why we liked it.
With all that red paint the white firewall and bed cover create a nice contrast and coordinate with the wide whitewall tires and interior.

Frame Off Built Roadster Supercharged 383 V8 TH400
While the phrase "traditional street rod" may conjure images of hacked up rat rods made of speaker wire and old refrigerators, it can also stand for something great. The hot rodding tradition is full of amazing custom work, impressive engineering and horsepower in huge quantities. With those three characteristics in mind, this awesome '32 Ford Roadster is a prime example of that scene. In a past life, this car was known as the "Dreamer" and earned itself a feature in Rod & Custom back in 2001. Today, fresh out of a complete rebuild, the car is once again poised for the spotlight. Featuring a blown 383 stroker, fresh custom interior and in-your-face paintwork, this is a car meant for anyone who loves attracting attention and having a hell of a lot of fun in the process. If you're ready for a one-of-a-kind street rod, take a closer look at this Ford.
In its first incarnation, this '32 wore a coat of HoK Oriental Blue candy paint with a graphic of the Milky Way trailing down the side. Definitely a distinctive look but the new owner had something a little brighter in mind. The Speedway Lo-Boy fiberglass body was stripped to its bare essence, sanded smooth and shot with a base coat of PPG Oh So Orange metallic paint. A strong choice by itself, the orange is complemented by a coat of PPG Key Lime metallic green paint used for the traditional flames that cover the grille shell and firewall while extending onto the doors. There is a ton of flake in both colors and the car absolutely glows in natural light. Show quality paintwork doesn't come cheap and this job set the builder back roughly $25k according to receipts. If attracting attention was the primary goal, that was money well spent. The cars distinctly west coast flavor is refreshing in the sea of monotone high-tech rods. Panel fitment is impressive for a fiberglass body and every panel is laser straight.
Accenting that eye-popping paintwork is an array of well-chosen pieces that do a great job of making this roadster stand out in any crowd. At the front, a polished custom grille anchors two round headlights above fully polished custom front suspension. There are no bumpers to be found and, for this car, that was a great choice. The hood and side panels were scrapped in favor of chrome support rods and a better view of the snarling small block that lives between the frame rails. At the top, a custom low-profile wrap-around windshield adds a unique touch that's sure to start conversation at any car show. Naturally, there are no door handles or any other trim pieces to break this rod's clean lines only a set of small round rear view mirrors for a safer driving experience. At the rear, flush-mounted LED taillights on either side of the license plate frame add a modern touch to the otherwise purely vintage ride.
With the traditional hot rod look and attention grabbing paint, a subpar powerplant simply wasn't an option. A 383 stroker was commissioned for the job and topped with a lengthy list of speed parts. The centerpiece is a polished Holley roots style blower that force feeds air through two Holley carbs. A B&M boost gauge keeps track on the blower's output. Atomized fuel is divided by a Holley intake manifold mounted between a pair of World Products Sportsman II heads that have been polished, ported and blueprinted. Ignited by a billet distributor that sends spark through MSD wires, the engine fires immediately and sounds brutal through a set of coated headers. Supercharged motors produce a good bit of head but, thanks to a custom radiator and electric puller fan, this one keeps it cool at idle. Visually, the bay looks great thanks to an assortment of polished parts including finned aluminum valve covers, polished pulleys and an awesome shotgun scoop that fits the cars look perfectly. All major wiring is hidden and the smoothed firewall provides a great backdrop for the engine.
Underneath the car, a detailed chassis provides impressive handling to accompany the small block's output. Smoothed and sprayed with a coat of metallic gray, the frame looks Behind the 383, a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission handles gear selection before channeling power down the driveshaft to a polished Ford 9-inch rear end. The suspension remains traditional up front with a polished solid drop axle and cross spring with polished hairpins. Out back, coilovers support the back end while polished traction bars help keep it stable. Braking comes courtesy of a powered four-wheel disc setup with the master cylinder tucked away under the driver's side of the car. Steering remains manual but, in a car this light, the difference is barely noticeable. At the corners, smoothies in sizes 15x6 and 15x10 are wrapped in classic Coker whitewalls for the perfect vintage look.
Between the doors, the interior is fresh out of an extensive rebuild that took it from a tan and brown to white with more period correct touches. Seating for two is provided by a reworked bench seat wrapped in white vinyl with green piping. The seat back is one piece but the actual seat is split into two separate areas by the transmission tunnel. Below, fresh black carpet ties in perfectly with the black semi-circle pattern found on the brand new door panels. From the driver's seat, a smooth orange dash feature a white inlay with custom Classic Instruments gauges that keep tabs on oil pressure, fuel, voltage, temperature speed and revs. The gauges have white faces with green flames that tie perfectly Into the exterior paintwork. Connecting the driver to the car is an polished Ididit tilt column topped with a billet steering wheel wrapped in white leather. New Lokar pedals operate the throttle and brake. There are no modern conveniences or distractions to be found here just a pure driving experience. Behind the cabin, the surprisingly large trunk is covered with black carpet and white vinyl panels to match the interior.
Documentation for this roadster includes a copy of its old Rod & Custom feature, a specially designed t-shirt with the update car on it and a pile of receipts that document every piece used during the rebuild. There is also a three-ring binder with a few build pictures and a manual for the Classic Instruments gauges.

1932 Ford 3 Window Traditional Style Street
This 32 Ford 3 window coupe is a crowd pleaser! The car is super cool built as a traditional style hot rod. With 18,000 miles on the clock since its build it has been road tested and performs great! The body is very nice and straight with no damage from any accidents or rust being a glass car. The red paint is also very nice but has a few small chips from just being driven. The suicide doors open and shut great as does the trunk with good gaps.
The chassis is highly detailed with a chrome straight axle frontend and a 4 linked with coilover rear setup for great ride and drivability. Everything underneath is very nice with many chrome components and a stainless fuel tank.
The engine is a sbc 350 casting# 3970010 backed by a 350 turbo transmission and a 9 inch Ford rear axle. The engine had many hours spend on detail work alone... it has electronic ignition,Edelbrock intake, 600 CFM Edelbrock carb, Edelbrock finned aluminum valve covers,Sanderson headers and a Cadillac air cleaner. The engine runs out great with no issues at all! On the inside the red and white two tone interior pops when you open the door! The colors highlight the traditional style this Hot Rod is finished in.
The interior is in very good condition, the bucket seats give plenty of room when paired with a Gm tilt column. The gauges are VDO brand and are all in working order as well as the horn and windshield wiper. The car also has power windows, Gennie shifter, banjo steering wheel and a Am/Fm stereo. The 32 was fitted with seat belts, a parking brake, third brake light and hazzard lights to pass a saftey inspection. A Ron Francis wireing harness was used in the build for reliability.
The trunk area is finished to match the interior. To round out the vintage look a frame mounted Moon tank was installed as well as the Vintage Hot Rod wires, Coker wide whites and the huge 10 inch headlights. The car proves itself on the road! Dont Miss this one!

1932 Ford 5 window chopped. Hemi engine
This is a very cool 32 project. Has a very low mile great running 341 Hemi engine with 727 trans and push button shifter. Hemi has the billet adapter installed to run a new chevy electronic distributor, new wires as well.
Orig caddy air breather. New aluminum radiator, front disc brakes, drum rear, ladder bar with adjustable coil overs rear. Rear pan hard side to side kit installed. Frame is from Total Performance, has friction shocks on front.
Flamming river steering box set up for side steer. I have a picture showing 4 16" wheels with new firestone wide white walls with trim rings and ford center caps.
Those are what will be on the car when sold. The wheels on the car in the pictures do not go with it. Pretty much looks the same with the other wheels on it anyway. Sits nice and low, roof measures 51" from the ground.
Things still needed to complete the car would be gas tank, steering wheel, I do have the steering wheel adapter that will go with it, needs exhaust, drive shaft, door glass, electric fan. Old carter 4 barrel needs a rebuild. Has a steel louvered trunk lid, steel visor, steel grill shell with stainless steel insert. Doors are hinged and latched, trunk is hinged as well.

1932 Ford Steel Highboy Roadster
32 Ford Roadster (Steel Brookville) Hiboy. If you're tired of looking at cookie cutter 32 Roadsters, then check this one out. My wife and I graduated from High School in 1962 (Where were you in 62), and wanted this car to look like that time frame. There are thousands of dollars of extras on this car which makes it stand out in a show. It's had hundreds of photos taken of it, especially of the beautiful Engine. I've had many folks tell me that this 32 was their favorite car in the show.
Here are the extras that you don't see in many 32s.
1. Polished So-Cal front Brakes.
2.Finned Cover over Steering Column on Firewall.
3.R700 four speed Automatic Transmission.
4. Real 1967 Corvette 327 Engine. The raised numbers on the Block are 389265 Drivers Side and C-277 Passenger Side.

1932 FORD 3 WINDOW-- CHOPPED-
This is a newly built 1932 Ford 3 window Gasser with less than 100 miles on it, the 100 miles was just to break it in and tune the car just right. This car has a completely Rebuilt Hemi in it that sounds so sweet with the Sanderson headers and Dual Rochester 2 BBL carbs. I commissioned Supreme Hot Rods to build me a one of a kind 1932 Gasser chassis with a 6” lift and it paid off as you can see. It has a very nice lift in the front without compromising the drive or visibility. Also to slow this sweet ride down we have put 4 wheel power disc brakes that will stop you on a dime. The old school drums look great but why sacrifice on safety you can never go wrong with disc brakes all the way around.
To keep it close to period correct colors I went with a PPG Wintermint and had silver leaf done on the side trim and some pin stripping on the Grill shell, Trunk and Dash to complement that old school style I wanted to create. Of course if you have a Gasser you have to have the Moon type Tank on the front. Sparing no expense I went with, “No better than,” Coker 165 White wall 15 x 6 tires on the front and on the back 15 x 7 Original Molded 30-10-15 Hurst white wall Cheater Slicks and Grey Rocket Igniter rims. No worries the slicks handle great for the daily drive. Keeping in mind you might want to show this off at some car shows or swap meets I put in a 15 gallon tank for long distance traveling
