1930 Chevy Gasser
History: This car has been stored for about 50 years following its racing days. The story goes that it ran a 409/4 speed and was a real NHRA A/Gas legal terror back in its day; right up until they scattered the engine for the last time and put it up some time around the mid 60's. (Sorry-that 409 driveline is long gone). It was rescued from storage and has been restored to its former glory. All the good original gasser parts were saved. This is absolutely NOT a rat rod! Clear, up to date registered title in my name!! Too much to list; but here goes:
Car: All original steel and perfect 1930 Chevy two door Coach sedan body and frame. The body and doors have never had any patch panels and have absolutely no rust. Everything is mirror perfect straight! The original wood inner structure is still there in most places (replaced with new if questionable during restoration) and has been reinforced with hidden heavy steel supports. The fenders, running boards, grille shell and hood top are original heavy weight 1960's Cal Custom fiberglass Chevy style. Everything has been beautifully re-painted in 1960’s look metallic blue; show car quality. The door art and decals are replicas from its old days on the strip. Windshield is safety glass, side and back windows are the original blue tint plexiglass. Door windows have the racing style old Chrysler seat belt latches. The headlights are small Deitz with 32 Ford tie bar. The roof insert is brand new old style reproduction stock cloth with all new wood, etc. Aluminum firewall, hidden steel hoop inside cowl. Rechromed door handles.
Interior: The interior is restored and mostly original 1960’s Gasser. The single hoop roll bar and support are attached to the frame. The seats are original racing buckets with metallic blue vinyl. The door panels side panels and headliner are new white vinyl and matching metallic blue vinyl. Chrome steering column with old Moon wheel. Original 1960’s Sun tach works perfectly. Gages are new repro SW with curved glass. Modern Lokar shifter. Original aluminum racing battery box, new battery. Custom white fire extinguisher. Original style Rat Fink decal on the dash for luck!
Frame: 9 inch Ford Nodular iron rear axle, with 3:91 gear. Has a spool with Detroit Locker, set up perfectly. Frame is boxed original Chevy. The front axle is a brand new Chromed straight axle and all chromed steering gear. The box is a brand new Vega style with custom dropped pitman arm for no bumpsteer.
There is evidence of where the old ladder bars were on the frame and axle, but I did not replace those.
Brake system is power; with floor pedal. Rear brakes are new Ford. The front brakes are now new disk with braided lines. Chrome front shocks. Push button start, all new electrical system with turn signals, etc. Rear bumper is the authentic old school chromed steel pipe. Front tie bar is chromed steel pipe. Tail lights are original style 1950 Pontiac round glass.

Re: Hot rod gasser
Engine: The best part!! It is dressed like an early 396 Big Block, but is actually a .030 over 454 Big Block from a Corvette. Completely rebuilt, oval port heads. Lunati Voodoo cam, twin Edelbrock 600 four barrels on a lowrise Edelbrock manifold. Polished aluminum scoop. Roller rockers, all the good parts inside. Pump gas friendly 10:1. MSD box, rev limiter, distributor. All steel lines with braided hoses and external fuel pressure gage and pump. New gas tank. New racing duty driveshaft. The original Eelco tank up front is now the radiator catch can.
Chrome appearance ceramic coat headers with full street exhaust, crossover and turbo mufflers. Also includes original side exit headers separately! New flanges on those headers to bolt onto the BB if you want. Huge new Walker radiator with electrical fan. Chrome alternator. This engine is awesome!
Transmission: Turbo 400 with a 2000 stall convertor for the street now. Aluminum crossmember, external trans cooler. Chrome pan. I have to be honest, the front seal weeps a little bit from sitting. If the car was driven, this seal would swell back up correctly.
Tires: Pie Crust White Wall Radir slicks, Moroso Front Runner tires. The wheels are the original 1960’s American Racing D aluminum for a correct look. Rear has long studs for racing.

1940 Dodge Pickup - Infamous
A Garage-Built Hot Rod From the Sunshine State
By Patrick McCarthy, Photography by Phil Gordon
Truckin Magazine, January and March 2014
We occasionally hear the term “gangster” being used to describe a mean looking show truck, and this got us thinking: what kind of truck would an actual gangster drive? Back in the ’30s, Al Capone himself was known to roll in a heavily armored Cadillac, and famous bootleggers and thugs often showed off their high-powered V-8 Mercurys or flashy Rolls-Royce convertibles. All these vehicles were fast, heavily modified, and rarely subtle. Continuing this tradition, Miller Mantovanelli of Medley, Florida, created a 1940 Dodge pickup that is the absolute epitome of the term “gangster.”
With The Chrome Velocity Stacks Exceeding The Height Of The Cab, It’s Safe To Say This Dodge Makes Serious Statement.
It all began in true hot-rodding fashion, with a rusty hull of this classic Dodge arriving on a flatbed. At his shop, MCW Customs, Miller created a one-off fabricated chassis from 3x4-inch tube steel, which he then reinforced and cross-drilled for added style. Z’d front and rear framerails drop the truck’s midsection considerably, and a 6-inch body drop sets the rockers firmly against the asphalt. The front suspension consists of a 5-inch lowered I-beam setup, with Slam Specialties ’bags and Carrera shocks. Out back, a custom four-link was created using classic Jaguar components and more Slam Specialties ’bags. Two sets of wheels were selected for a vintage dragster-style look -- 18-inch Radir spindle-mounts up front and 15x8 Boyd Coddingtons in the rear.
With a stance imposing enough for any Mafioso, it was time for a powerplant of near-absurd proportions. First, a 1942 331ci V-8 block was sourced, and fit with ported and polished heads and a thunderous Isky Racing cam. Stacked on top of the already hefty motor are an enormous Dyer’s 6V71 roots blower and triple carburetors. With the chrome velocity stacks exceeding the height of the cab, it’s safe to say this Dodge makes a serious statement. After fabricating a pair of custom straight-pipes, the engine was paired with a built Chevy three-speed transmission. This all spins a custom driveshaft and Jaguar quick-change rearend with 3.73 gears. Miller has yet to get a final horsepower figure for the build, but we’re sure it’s more than enough to propel the 2,900-pound hot rod to terrifying speeds.
Next on the itinerary were paint, body, and interior refinements. The Dodge’s cab was chopped eight inches and sectioned three more, then fit with a redesigned firewall and split windshield. A heavily customized bobbed bed was installed out back, and the grille, headlights, taillights, and door handles from a classic Ford were installed. MCW Customs then sprayed the truck in PPG Root Beer metallic, leaving the firewall white with pinstriped accents. The interior features aluminum bucket seats, a dragster steering wheel, a custom piston shifter, and a paint-matched air tank on the transmission tunnel.
With plenty of over-the-top one-off modifications and a truly mean appearance, we’re confident any respectable mobster would approve of this blown Dodge. Best of all, it was a true hot-rod–style garage build, with all work done in-house with basic tools at MCW Customs

1931 Chevrolet 5 Window
1931 Chevrolet Custom Street Rod 5 Passenger Coupe. Very rare model which looks like a Ford Vicky. Chevrolet only made them for 2 years, 1931 and 1932. Straight rust free steel body with a 2 1/2" chop. Full steel floor pan installed. 1932 Ford grille assembly replaced the original 31 Chevy grille. Still has some of the original wood which is in great shape. All the windows are lexan. The original frame was boxed and shorten in the rear. Chrome plated 1936 Ford front suspension installed. 1961 Ford pick up steering box. Rear axle is a Mopar 8 3/4. Quarter eliptical springs with old school traction bars. 1960's Steward Warner Deluxe gauges in dash. Fuel tank was moved inside the trunk and the rear frame was modified for a cleaner look. The engine is a 1965 389 Pontiac with a 1960's Mickey Thompson blower. Bored .060 with forged pistons and H-beam connecting rods. The bottom end assembly was balanced. 6X cylinder heads which were ported and treated to a 5 angle valve job. Lunati flat tappet hydraulic camshaft. Mallory distributor with a MSD 6-AL ignition box. Custom headers and full exhaust. The transmission is a 4-speed M22 Rock Crusher with a Center Force clutch assembly. The seats are bomber style which look period correct. Custom tuck and roll interior, just needs carpet or rubber mat.

GASSER, 36 Ford Coupe
1936 Ford GASSER. Originally campaigned by the Proval Brothers on the East coast in the late 60's. I rescued it from being turned into a street rod in the early 90's. I brought it back to life using parts I had squirreled away from vehicles I raced back in the day. All the work, except the interior stitching (Shawn Appleman), was performed by myself. The short-block was built by Steve Maksymyke. I completed the build in 1999. This HOT ROD runs consistant and straight. Best ET has been 9.93 @ 160. I have it dialed in today to run a comfortable 10.50
This is a very solid steel car, with the exception of the fiberglass rear fenders. The interior is a combination of aluminum and vinyl upholstery. The frame is a modified 36 Ford with a six-point gage and the best industry upgrades.
In 2004 it won the World of Wheels (Competition Class), and was featured at the "Gathering of the Gassers" at IRP in 2006. This is a TWO THUMBS UP ride wherever it goes! She has been in hiding for the last four years and needs to get out and socialize.
"Glory Days" could easily become street legal.
Overview of the build;
350 SBC, Hilbourn INJECTED, Dart heads, custom headers, ROLLER Crane cam, forged crank, "H-Beam" rods, etc.
POWERGLIDE (custom) with trans brake.
9" Ford rear-end. Reinforced, Strange axles, 5:31 ratio.
HD driveshaft.
Lexan side and rear windows.
Autometer gauges, line lock.

1931 Ford Model A Tudor Sedan "The Eff'n A"
1931 Ford Model A Tudor Sedan. Car has seen some track time at Byron Dragway, Cordova Dragway, and Great Lakes Dragway. The build of the car was to be reminiscent of the 1960’s drag race era. This car meets all criteria for the Midwest Nostalgia races that I have attended, Meltdown Drags, Run Whatcha Brung Drags, and Hunnert Car Heads Up. Has run a best of 12.69 @ 103mph. Car drives very well, tracks perfect, no bump steer, etc.
