Bachmann Logo 1-C Large Picket Fence BoxPlasticville is a small piece of "Americana" that has become a traditional favorite of collectors world wide. Bachmann Bros. began production of Plasticville structures & accessories in 1947 with a humble fence designed to be used underneath a Christmas tree. In the following years they would produce many other Plasticville items that were designed to be used with the most popular electric trains of the period: Lionel (O Gauge) & American Flyer (S Gauge).

Plasticville featured "Snap-together" construction with "No Glue Necessary," and these attributes made them a favorite choice of parents who gave these kits to their children along with the electric trains for the holiday season. Many people erroneously believe that these kits were made in 1952 because of the imprint that is located on the inside of many of the structures that are Plasticville (shown below left).
Bachmann Bros. Imprint 1952 was the year that Bachmann received their patent for the interlocking system that is used to hold the walls together. Indeed, the production of Classic Plasticville spanned the years 1947 to 1979 and continues to this day.

Aside from just a few other minor manufacturers, Plasticville buildings are the only structures that were the contemporaries of these post-war electric trains. If properly cared for, all of the items produced as "Plasticville" make a worth while investment that will hold their value as much as the trains they were intended to accompany.

Terribles ces p'tits bâtiments. En plus l'échelle 0, c'est du 1/43ème, top pour y mettre des p'tites ricaines "kivonbien".
