The Rough Diamonds est un groupe se plaçant stylistiquement entre le White Rock, le Surf et le rockabilly et formé par Paul Owen au chant et guitare solo, Alan Meyers à la basse, Neil Jury en guitare rythmique et Ian Hibbert à la batterie.

L'album publié sur Fury records en 1993 "Commotion"(FCD 3028) nous permet d'entendre 15 compositions de Paul Owen au son vintage teinté de ce qu'il faut de déjanté pour faire un disque un disque qui ne peut laisser insensible l'amateur de rock sans compromis refusant toute production soft et mélodie pop. Nous trouvons donc les compositions  Commotion, Warpath, Chains, She's too hot, Lonely street, Satellite bop (pour moi un véritable petit chef d'oeuvre), Buzzsaw, I'm gonna be the one, Back door daddy, Time out, Landslide, Sore loser, l, The big guitar, I sold my soul, Machine gun et Rocket ride. Au niveau cover ils reprennent Jack the Ripper de Link Wray (l'influence majeure du groupe) et de Swingin' baby doll de David Gates.
