1946 Ford Convertible - Emerald Envy - Buck Owens
This is a stunning, one of a kind 1946 Ford convertible lead sled custom in amazing condition inside and out. It is a true show piece known as "Green Envy" and was previously owned by the country music legend "Buck Owens" of The Buckaroos. The car was finished in 1999 and was shown at the Grand Nation Roadster Show in 1999 in San Francisco, CA where is won the coveted "George Barris Kustom D'Elegance Award". This car was built the true old school way and is all steel with amazing lead work. It was built using all vintage components, which includes a 1957 Thunderbird 312ci V8 engine mated to a C4 automatic transmission. This has been featured in magazines, hard cover books and won many car shows!!

Started with an original 1946 Ford Convertible w/ 3 inch chopped, original Carson top
1938 Lincoln Zepher front end, modified, hand made chin piece
1939 Lincoln Zepher Grills, opening modified
1939 Ford standard head lights tunneled 1/2 inch, all bright metal removed, Hot Rod Hell nerf bars
Ford Cowl and windshield opening raised 2 inches to meet up w/Lincoln cowl, cowl vent removed
Original Hauser Carson Top, restored
1950 Buick fade aways into Buick rear fenders that have been sectioned and shortened 7 inches, 1950 Buick glass tail lights tunneled 1 inch
Trunk welded on, license plate surround extended from peaked deck lid
1950 Plymouth wagon rear bumpers with exhaust outlets in center ends
Original 112 Appleton spot lights
Custom Rocker Panels
1949 Cadillac skirts, flush mounted w/recessed fender area hand fabricated
Gas filler removed from Buick fender and stainless boat deck filler installed
"Bitchen" firewall, floorboards and rocker panels installed
Rear floor boards, from rear seat step up, custom made
This Beautiful 1946 Ford convertible custom has been meticulously cared for since day one. This car is an absolute must see in person to believe how beautiful it really is. The paint is stunning and has been done the right way and sanded to a smooth mirror like finish that looks a mile deep. This was a very high dollar paint finish with 14 coats of House of Kolors, Kandy Emerald Green over silver base shot that looks amazing and the body as straight as an arrow. Absolutely all the chrome and trim on this car been completely redone and looks spectacular. This car was kept inside and treated, as a true Collector Car should be! It has a stunning like new, tuck n roll, off white interior with green piping that looks amazing! It has a custom installed 1941 Lincoln Zepher dash and steering wheel. The top of the dash was welded to the 1946 Ford dash to fit the ?V? butt windshield opening. A 1939 Lincoln Zepher steering column was adapted to the Mustang rack with a Borgeson steering shaft kit. The car has a Glide Engineering seat with custom built power windows and wipers by Vintique. It has a brand new all painless wiring harness. It has a hidden vintage air conditioning, heat and defroster system that works perfect. The car also has a huge custom stereo system with remote control, CD player and Ipod connection and controls. Everything works in the car and is a blast to drive!!
Mechanically, the engine and transmission run flawlessly! This '46 Ford runs and drives with no issues at all! Its powered by a vintage rebuilt 1957 Thunderbird 312ci V8 engine with an Edelbrock 650 4bbl carb mated to a C4 automatic transmission with ?57 T-bird shifter. Driving down the road there are no squeaks or rattles and that's wonderful coming from a 60 plus year old car. Every option and or function works, as it should. The engine compartment is beautifully detailed to show condition with tons of chrome! The car is an absolute pleasure to drive. Fire her up and she's ready to cruise.
The chassis is a 1946 Ford frame that was boxed and modified cross members. The front of the frame was extended 5 1/2 inches, which also lengthened the wheelbase. The front end is a Mustang II front suspension with Firestone air springs and relocated shocks. It has manual rack and pinion steering and a custom built sway bar. The rear end is a Ford 8? Granada with a custom driveline and Firestone air springs. It also has a 4 bar with panard rod and the frame is C notched 4 inches. The car has a complete adjustable air ride suspension with front and rear controls hidden behind the speaker grill opening in the dash. It can be raised 5 inches for road travel and the frame can be set on the ground for display!!
