Sixties show rods & Custom Rods

This truck was built in the early '60's by a master sheetmetal man. Hand formed Aluminum front section and rear sections. New 2 x5 boxed frame, everything done in the same fashion as the original.

We used the same 1940 ford front end, 1947 open drive rear end, its set up for the 348 cubic inch chevy engine. (the engine has been inspected by a local machine shop) is ready for building. Early Lincoln drum brakes, chevy master cylinder, jaguar shocks, drag star mag wheels, forty ford dash, split wish bones, the body was sectioned 5",channeled over the frame 6", door handles molded off (electric openers)were used, custom made gas tank, many more custom treatments! In 1968 this truck won the Oakland Roadster "Sweepstakes" award!. Its been feature in a number of magazines including Rod and Custom 1968, 50 years of customs, and others. this truck was taken apart in 1981 and remains in boxes. It is currently mocked up so one can see how it goes together.

Doug Thompson built it. Ralph / Jr. Garcia, in KCMO, own it now. The original owner's name, I think, was Russell
