Studebaker classic cars
The Studebaker Golden Hawk was built from 1955 through 1958 initially using Packard power under hood. Immediately known for their brutish power, the Golden Hawk set a new standard for automakers including Chevrolet’s Corvette and Chrysler’s NASCAR-inspired 300 Series. With Packard getting ready to close its doors for good, Studebaker designed an engine of their own to power their final two years of production. It was the Sweepstakes 289ci V8 enhanced with the Jet Stream McCulloch supercharger to produce 275 horsepower! This vehicle platform was said to be the best performing example produced, and by 1958 with revisions to the suspension and driveshaft, offered better handling and extra interior passenger space!
We are delighted to offer this 1958 Studebaker Golden Hawk finished in White Gold & Parchment White two-tone exterior with beautifully contrasting all Black interior! Powered by a rebuilt 289ci supercharged V8 mated to a Flight-O-Matic automatic transmission and Twin-Traction limited-slip rear axle! Optional features on our vehicle include variable ratio power steering, 15” wheels with spoke-type wheel discs, dual rear antennas, tinted window glass, electric clock, padded sun visors, and Climatizer heater defrost system! Additional standard features include padded dash, full instrumentation with tachometer, rear seat armrest, and more. Welcome enhancements to this Golden Hawk include cold air conditioning with under dash blower unit for a period correct appearance, Firestone radial whitewall tires, and a newer Custom Autosound AM/FM/Cassette radio in the stock location that included optional pre-outs for iPod and CD change use.
This superbly restored Golden Hawk has been throughout restored to include beautifully applied paint, all new weather stripping, re-chromed bright work from front to back, and all new interior! When the restoration began, the original interior was requiring total replacement. At that time, the longtime Studebaker restorer/owner elected to replace the entire interior with a 1962 Gran Turismo Hawk interior including the dash & gauges. The dash face and instrumentation remain in exceptional condition and functional with exception to only the clock. The original engine block was also sacrificed for a Full Flow 289ci V8 (#PS5814) from the same 1962 GT Hawk donor car. All driveline components are said to have been fully rebuilt, also including the McCulloch supercharger, a Turner front disc upgrade, steering & suspension system, and new exhaust with trumpet tips by specialist Myers Studebaker based in Duncan Falls, OH
