1964 Mercury Marauder "Mild Custom"
DRIVE TRAIN:
The car originally was equipped with a 390 Tri -Power motor which was swapped out with a fresh mildly built (Mild Cam, Over 30) 352 Police Interceptor shortly before we got the car. Its backed with a C4 Auto Trans. The engine runs strong, does not smoke or leak oil. The transmission goes through the gear smoothly. Mechanically this car is very sound and has proven itself to be reliable
BRAKES:
We recently went through the whole brake system and installed new drums, rubber lines and wheel cylinders
BODY & TRIM:
The car is a solid and rust free both body and frame. It was recently blocked out, primed and repainted with Hot Rod Flatz Metallic Blue. While not perfect the stainless is presentable and driver quality
INTERIOR:
The car maintains its stock interior, There are no rips, tears or stains in the seats, We installed fresh carpeting recently as well. The door panels are intact but are showing some age. The car will need a headliner. Overall the interior is a 7.5 out of 10
CUSTOMIZATION:
Many of the car's custom touches were done by the original owner in the late 60's. The car has been lowered 4" front with cut coils/ 3" blocks in the rear. It sits on brand new chrome reverse rims with skinny white walls for that true mid 60's custom look. Dual exhaust with chrome tips below the chevy suburban rear bumper are a nice custom touch and sound killer as the car goes down the road. Additionally some of the cars emblems ,door trim, fender spears and trunk lid have been shaved. The car also sports dummy lake pipes for additional custom aesthetic
OVERVIEW:
While not a "show car" this car is a solid driver ready to be enjoyed. It goes down the road smoothly and turns heads every where it goes. It is turn key car. Everything works as it should (lights, gauges, etc) Keep it as is or put your own custom touches to it. Flake the roof? Lose the lake pipes go with bell flower tips?

1963 Mercury Monterey 2-Door HT
We respect this Mercury and its Tennessee owner. He and his gal drove the car from their home to Viva Las Vegas 15 along Route 66 and then back home again two months ago. The reversed rear window on the Mercs can take some getting used to, but dipped in House of Kolor tones and nicely dropped over spider-capped chrome wheels, this one is just about perfect. Find it here on eBay in Church Hill Tennessee for $18k. Special thanks to BaT reader RLM for this submission.
The seller shows photos from all the famous stops along The Mother Road, from tee-pees to bluebirds to Caddy farm art. The car sports shaved handles and emblems, and a good amount of pin-striping. Thick/thin whites look perfect tucked up into the wells, and the front was dialed in with short coils while the rear uses bags to assist the leaf springs.
This is an oft forgotten model, and we usually see them pretty well beaten and with four doors. The 2-door hardtop is slick, and we like it kustomozed even better than stock. Goldmine Pearl and the Candy Root Beer were amazingly well chosen. We couldn’t care less what the original color might have been.
THe interior looks clean in white with a painted and striped dash. Note the visor mirror which allows shaving of the side morror. Automatic is definitely preferred in such a car, and the 390 V8 sounds about right. Check out the seller’s photos and find more info on the Vegas event here at VivaLasVegas.net.
The seller finishes his listing with one command: “Drive it anywhere… we did.” Bravo to that. More of us should pick an event at a far away spot and plan such a journey. We are inspired.
