1963 Buick Riviera - XP 600 - Jack Florence

This is a one of a kind magazine feature car. It was first featured in the 1963 w inter issue of Popular Custom Magazines and was photographed by George Barris for that magazine. The body has been radically restyled which is difficult to describe but I have tried to show all details in the pictures. It was once known as the XP600 and was considered for a prototype of future Riviera s. It was rebuilt in 1985 and again in 1994 and features the following: New custom tweed interior with a sculptured headliner, dash, door panels and trunk. It has power windows, power brakes, power steering, tilt column, air conditioning (not working), AM/FM Cassette radio with a 6 disc CD player. The engine compartment is nicely detailed with paint and chrome on a nail head Buick motor and it has an automatic transmission with the shifter in the console.

1963 Buick Riviera restyled by Fostoria Customs in Ohio for Merle Taggart of Ohio. The Buick featured cutaway fenders which gave the Buick a completely new appearance. The stock headlights were discarded because of the new front styling and gave the coupe a look that was a cross between a Chrysler Imperial and an Indy roadster. The front end featured twin sculptured grille openings with chromed square tube grilles. The front end sheet metal sculpture flowed the new lines into the body with the unique cutaway rear fenders. The body was finished up in red and gold Candy. The car was a radical custom for its time
